DataSet Report Online Help

The new DataSet Report product range offers the following three packs:

  • DataSet Report Enterprise: includes all the DataSet modules: DataSet Vision with Cubes (which are no longer an option) and automation (VBS scripts), DataSet EBIS, DataSet Server, DataSet Model, DataSet Web Server, DataSet Menu Builder, DataSet Web Vision, Web EBIS and the Host iSeries TCIPIP module. DataSet Server supports the following data sources: SQL Server, Oracle, DB2-UDB, ODBC, DataSet Connect, DataSet Model, Excel and iSeries TCP/IP (note that the iSeries TCP/IP source will only work if the AS/400 Host module exists).
  • DataSet Report Professional: includes DataSet Vision with Cubes and EBIS. It supports all the data sources proposed by DataSet Server (except the DataSet iSeries Client module).
  • DataSet Report Express: includes DataSet Vision with Cubes, EBIS but without automation (VBS scripts). It is limited to SQL Server 2005 local database.

Some new key word functions are now availables for the Quarter dimension:
last quarter, this quarter, next quarter, 1 quarter ago, 2 quarters ago, 3 quarters ago, 4 quarters ago, in 1 quarter, in 2 quarters, in 3 quarters, in 4 quarters, last Q1, next Q1, last Q2, next Q2, last Q3, next Q3, last Q4, next Q4. (E-1293)
Queries

The ParamAsString() function, previously reserved to the reports, is now available in a query, an internal virual field or a parameter formula. (E-1285)
Reports
ChartFX62 Graph: a new property 'Values Reverse Order' allows now to reverse the order of the graph data. (E-1289)
Alert Management in the Reports: a report can be generated and sent by mail according to a specified Alert. A report can also generate another report according to a specified Alert. (E-1295)

Some new report functions are now proposed for the Alerts Management:
Destination() "Return the generated PDF file name with the full pathname"
FileName() "Return the generated PDF file name without pathname"

Cubes
You can now create a TOP parameter inside a cube affected to a specified column and give the required value to this parameter from a report having the same parameter and using this cube. (E-1279)

You can now call a cube view from a report using a formula and a parameter. Example: the cube TEST contains the views DataDaily, ChartDaily, DataMonthly and ChartMonthly.
The report, based on this cube or containing some views from this cube can call this cube as follow:
Data Source : select the cube name in the list (Test)
View : select the view name in the list (DataDaily or ChartDaily etc.) or create a formula as follow:
'Data' + TimeParam, if TimeParam is the parameter that will be sometimes equal to 'Daily' and sometimes equal to 'Monthly' according to the selected dates.
'Chart' + TimeParam, if TimeParam is the parameter that will be sometimes equal to 'Daily' and sometimes equal to 'Monthly' according to the selected dates. (E-1282)

A new command <Edit> <Arrange View> allows now to arrange the cube views easily. (E-1287)

DataSet Web Server

Tasks

The tasks support now the following syntasis when an Excel ourput format have to be used:
Destination directory: define the target destination shared folder or directory using the Browse button.
File Name: define as follow the target Excel file name:

or [file_name.xls]Sheet1!A12[REPLACE]
or [file_name.xls]Sheet1!A12[ERASEDATA]

Menu Builder

Menu Builder now provides the Excel 2007 output format. (E-1296)
